Grocery Contract Negotiations Break Down

As you know we are currently in negotiations under a media blackout called by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.  The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service has issued an official statement and it is as follows:

“Mediators involved in the Southern California grocery negotiations report some progress on difficult and complex issues.  FMCS is please that employees continue to work, the stores remain operational, and the parties continue to meet and explore potential solutions.”

And that is as far as I can go in my negotiation update.

However, we are aware that some companies continue to bombard you with letters, videos, and meetings telling you what great companies they are and what outstanding employees you are.  Well that’s all fine and dandy, but as you all know with them it comes down to the bottom line, and that’s the profits.

So the next time they tell you that you are a great employee and they are looking out for you and they have your best interests at heart, just borrow that line from the Jerry McGuire movie, and just tell them “show you the money,” because remember that is what it all boils down to.  It’s all about the money.

In the meantime, please continue to work your scheduled shifts, remain united, remain strong, and thank you for your support.
